Blue & Yellow Macaw Parrot

These birds can reach 76 to 86 cm (30 to 34 in) long and weigh 900 to 1500 grams (1.9 to 3.3 lbs), making it one of the larger members of its family.

Behaviour: They are vivid in appearance with blue wings and tail, dark blue chin, golden under parts, and a green forehead. Beaks are black. The naked face is white, turning pink in excited birds, and lined with small black feathers. The macaws in the wild can be very aggressive, but as a baby it can be very playful.

Popular Culture: The Blue-and-yellow macaw is very popular as a pet, because of it's striking appearance and ability to talk and bond very closely to their owner, and when they gain enough trust from their owner they can start learning tricks. As a baby, it could be very playful, as an adult, it can be aggressive. They can take a while to be tamed but it's worth it. And be sure to give them the right food, it is important to avoid food with high fat and food which are toxic to parrots. Like chocolate and cherries, Rosaceae pits and seeds including apple seeds which are very toxic to parrots. But with proper care and checking on food always this will ensure that your macaw will live a very long life.
